Albemarle girls and boys left school early today to compete in the regional championships held at Panorama Farms. It was a great opportunity to get another race under our belts before states, especially since it was on our home course.

Arianna DeBoer led the way for our girls and won the regional title with a time of 19:00. She ran her second best time ever, even through a grueling last two miles where she ran alone. Meme Zarzyski and Olivia St Amand came in 3rd and 4th place 20:29 and 20:31. Meme ran right on her best times of the season and Olivia had a 20 second PR! Hanna Guyton and Madeline Kronebusch were next for the patriots and Hanna dipped right under 21 and Madeline ran 21 flat. Abby Murphy also placed in the top 15 earning all region honors with her time of 21:18. She had one of the most impressive finishes of the day, with her chasing a girl from Stafford all the way into the chute! Beth Shifflett ran 21:50 to put all seven girls in the top 20 and all seven girls under 22 minutes. We won the meet with a low score of 21 points ahead of Mountain View (58) and Stafford (71).

Great job ladies! The next, and almost last meet, is States next week at Great Meadows!
