On a much more challenging course than last week's race a small group of girls traveled to out to the Invitational hosted by Jefferson Forrest. The varsity girls placed 3rd (second amongst non homeschool teams) and the JV girls took a close 4th.
Jenna Coleman led the way for the patriots being one of only seven girls on the day to break 20 minutes in 19:52. Maddie Gypson followed her in 20:15 to also place top 10. Junior Hanna Guyton ran a strong race to place 28th in 21:49 and sophomore Eva Weaver ran 22:41. Lillian Peskova and Alexis Alms worked together for 23:01 and 23:04 finishes.
In the JV race Emily Uthlaut continued to race well with a 6th place finish. Senior Grace Kohler placed 16th in 25:30 and Brooke Blankenship also cracked the top 25 with a sub 28 minute performance. Shelby Owed ran 28:04 and fellow sophomore Sofia Rankin ran 28:54 with Stella Klosek right behind her in 29:16.
Overall it was a solid day for the girls and a good experience on a more technically difficult course. Most of these girls returned for the district championship the next week with Jenna, Maddie and Hanna, sitting out to rest up for the post season!
